Lauantaina 13.5. klo 13–16 Turun pääkirjastossa War/Peace -dokumenttinäytös ja keskustelu:
War/Peace documentary film is re-introducing the Weather Underground, a radical student activist movement from the late 60s and 70s. The film serves as a historical reminder and draws comparisons between past and present forms of political activism. It asks a question: how can we make a change if peaceful demonstration is not effective and violence only brings more violence?
We are inviting you to see the film and hear ex-leader of the Weather Underground Bill Ayers talk about activism in the US. You'll also have an opportunity to ask filmmakers and Ayers questions.
Program:
13:00 Preface – Inderjit Kaur Khalsa (director) and Essi Haukkama (producer)
13:15 Documentary
14:15 Bill Ayers will talk about activism, world politics and the United States
15:00 Q&A with Ayers, Khalsa, and Haukkamaa
16:00 Ending
The event is hosted by the John Morton Center for North American Studies, IIPC (International Institute for Popular Culture), and Turku City Library.
